Efficient, environmentally friendly and smart – this formula describes the energy supply of the future. RWE is working on making it a reality, with numerous projects throughout all stages of the value chain. The RWE research and development project portfolio is determined by the current and future requirements of our core business, energy.
The goals of our research and development activities are also derived from our strategic vision. We are a credible and efficient partner for the long-term transformation of the European energy system. We evaluate all measures according to these strategic values, e.g. by measuring the benefit of our projects for the environment and resources, security of supply and, last but not least, the competitiveness of RWE. This is done using the same criteria throughout the Group. Furthermore, we also bundle the individual areas of expertise of our Group companies into joint research tasks.?
RWE also brings its experience into international joint projects and shares its findings with partners from science and industry on an ongoing basis. This allows us to play a major role in shaping the international work of the European Technology Platform for Zero-Emission Fossil Fuel Power Plants with several experts from the RWE Group. Since our focus is on application-driven research and development, our areas of expertise complement the more science-based profiles of our numerous cooperation partners from universities and public research institutes. As a result, we are not only able to lead our projects to success, but we are also able to support the universities and institutes with the latest research topics and make a contribution towards the qualified, practice-based training of young scientists.
